Borghetto is a medieval burg on the River Mincio, and was once famous for its many water mills. And it was right here, in Verona, that Dante composed most of his Paradiso: the third and last part of the Divine Comedy that the poet dedicated in its entirety to his friend and host, Cangrande.

Without Verona and its ruler’s foresight and magnanimity, this masterpiece of Italian literature would have never been completed or worse yet, might have never survived through the centuries.
